Dr Berge graduated in medicine from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He went on to undertake specialist anaesthetic training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London and subsequently pursued his interest in pain medicine, with fellowship training at St Thomas’, John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, New South Wales and the Royal Brisbane Hospital in Queensland.
Dr Berge is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) and the Faculty of Pain Medicine of ANZCA. He is a member of the Spine Intervention Society and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine.
Spinal pain and neurmodulation are Dr Berge’s particular areas of interest.
He has published scholarly research articles and made presentations at national and international scientific meetings. Dr Berge is a medical tutor at the Wesley Hospital. He is also a certified independent medical examiner for the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners.
